Upgrade Intranet from SharePoint 2007 to 2013

I recall my interviews with my current employer back in 2009, and the delight at hearing that they had just completed the installation of SharePoint 2007.  At the time I was with a firm that hadWSS 3, and was really looking forward to getting into 2007.  But alas time moves on, and while 2007 was OK, I'm looking forward to now introducing 2013 features to all my colleagues.

Today marks that milestone for me and 2013 is already gearing up to be a massive success.  Users like it, the interface is crisp, the features are useful, and the search is amazing.

The project wasn't simple,  The original install was a tech developers dream, and the amount of customization were not insignificant.  In all, the preparation has been 6 weeks with one developer and another BA on the project full time.  The engagement and comm's have been significant and will now help us roll on through for the nest 4 weeks implementing the benefits.

For me, I'm as excited about this as I was 6 years ago.  With my SQL Servers upgraded to 2012 only 10 months ago, and now SharePoint, these are my two main services upgraded in the space of a year, and now allows me to focus back on the needs of the business for a while,
